Sound From Silence

  Tim Nelson & Samuel Luria together are Sound from Silence, the voice of musical godhood from the void, the aural strains that will forever change your view of how good music can be. Electronic rock has never been this delicious. This duo looks for music that provides a feeling of astonishment and empowerment and the pair strives hard to make its own music contain these very qualities. Fusing organic elements of rock instrumentation with warm electronic tones and beats, Sound from Silence shoots across the wavestream with music that is both catchy and poignant.

Electronic & Organic

Nelson and Luria believe that electronic elements can inspire the organic workings of our physical selves. “Waves of varying pressure reach our ears only to open our eyes to the acoustic nature of our other four senses.” It's almost a positive cyberpunk symbiosis of the aural realm as Sound of Silence fuses its electronica into attractive rock music into which the human mind and heart can tune for a trip through the outer spheres.

Joy

There are fans, and there's the thrill of being paid to make music and there's recognition, the potential for fame – there are any number of reasons why one might make music. But for this talented duo, it all comes down to joy, the total emotional payoff of making masterful music. “We are inspired by the sheer pleasure we feel when we make music.” That's the ultimate reward, and the listener can rest assured that if the artist is finding such pure joy in the making of the music then the fan can find the same in the listening.

Ideas Behind the Music

Different artists will tell you different philosophies to be followed in the creation of music. While some artists believe production should be geared toward the creation of a “live” sound. But Sound of Silence is more inclined to the view that, “when recording, whatever means necessary should be used to produce the most satisfactory sound possible.” Embracing modern technology to help craft the sound and hone it to its finest edge, Sound of Silence aims to present the best quality around. However, the band does not neglect the value of a “live” sound. “We would not like to undermine the importance of a live performance and have made it our personal goal to reproduce all songs in full for live performances.”

Background

Nelson is a pianist, keyboardist and trumpeter. He handles layering, mixing and effects on Sound of Silence tracks. Luria, also a pianist and keyboardist, and a guitarist, as well, handles vocal tasks for the duo. His poetic mind mixes with Nelson's talent to help create the co-written lyrics. The group is currently working with A&R Select, the hottest indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
