Burney Warren describes his edgy, unique music as a cross between southern rock and electronica. He also considers music – not just his, but music in general – to be a necessary force of the universe. "Music has carried me through this crazy life as we know it. I cannot imagine the cruelty of living on this planet without it." Fans, of course, consider Warren's music a necessary part of that force. And they experience the gratitude that comes with having such a potent artist sharing his talent with the musical world.
Even non-traditional music (and let it be known that Warren's mystic music is a fusion of traditional elements arranged in non-traditional ways) is still music. Though it may not reflect the patterns of the mainstream, it has every right to be considered music. "I believe music is organized sound. I have come to find that 'organized' can mean different things to a vast majority of people." Music is manipulated sound, sound engineered to enter the ears and affect the soul by way of the brain and to leave the listener changed, bettered, touched by the power of the artist and his manipulation of music's power. By that definition, Warren should have his name next to the definition of "music" in every single dictionary.
Warren's music conjures a feeling of mystery and the otherworldly. It's no wonder why. "A connection with God inspires me most." But his music is also rooted in down-to-earth elements, as well. The world around us is full of the sublime, if only we look, even at those things we take for granted. "People and places inspire me. Seeing bands perform live inspires me to write. While recording/producing/engineering, my ambition is fueled to make more music." Music grows from music and Warren's creative process never stops, glowing white hot and turning out marvelous tunes for fans.
Warren – appearing as bassist for Kings of the Delta – shared the stage with The Charlie Daniels Band. In the same capacity, he hit Esporanza Bonanza and performed CYCA gigs. He played bass for the track "Theory" by Simon on a Response Records compilation of Memphis-based music. Warren will again be working with Simon at Cricket on the Hill in March. For his own music, he records his own instrument work and always keeps the listener in mind. "My first goal is to make a great record everyone can listen to." From there it's on to live performances where he selects the right musicians to help him bring his music to the stage. And when he's not recording or performing, he's writing music to be recorded and performed. "I hear music being composed in my head at all times. Sometimes it just won't stop!" Warren laments not being able to link music software right to his brain. Until then he'll have to use standard methods; and those methods, by the way, will be bringing a new album to listeners this year. (Kings of the Delta also have a release planned.) He is also looking to put together a music video. Warren is currently working with A&R Select, the leading indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
